Economic Benefits Of Regulating Cannabis
The cannabis industry's economic benefits to local economies is considerable, as demonstrated by statistics from North America. Adult-use Cannabis in Europe: Pilot Projects, Hypes, Delays and Expected Timelines
There is no doubt that regulating the adult use of cannabis in Europe is a hot topic in 2022: the German coalition starting consultations on a path to implement a new model in Germany, changes in countries like Malta and Luxemburg, the pilot projects in the Netherlands and Switzerland. When we look at the other side of the Atlantic, we see that things are moving at a different speed: in 2022, adult-use cannabis sales in the USA are expected to reach $32 billion and did generate nearly $4 billion in tax revenue in 2021. The panellists will discuss the latest news and timelines, as well as share their opinions on the opportunities for the cannabis industry.

Many medical cannabis companies are not sure if they should look forward to, or fear, the legalization of recreational cannabis in Europe. Profit margins for medical cannabis companies may be negatively impacted due to fewer reimbursements and lower levels of regulations for recreational cannabis versus medical cannabis. Research and development in the medical cannabis industry are notoriously expensive. So, what is the right strategy? Sticking to medical cannabis or opening up for the recreational market? Panelists will discuss opportunities and challenges that are awaiting cannabis companies in a dual system of medical and recreational cannabis.

History Of The Relationship Between The Capital Markets And Cannabis And M&A In The Global Markets
Moderator: Lisa Haag
Panellists: Claudia Della Mora (MANAGING DIRECTOR, BLACK LEGEND CAPITAL LLC), Ria Green (FOUNDER, GREENQUEENMAGAZIN)
Due to the rapidly changing nature of cannabis legislation around the world, the capital markets have traditionally had a volatile relationship with cannabis companies, particularly due to the bubble seen in the cannabis market in the late 2010s. Several significant trends, however, have become apparent in recent years particularly in the increasing use of the debt capital markets. Among the trends in both the capital markets and in M&A behaviour, several key M&A transactions and capital raises have shown the changing perception of cannabis among public and private investors and the overall change in investing behaviour of both investors and large cannabis companies.

Virtual WEIC Women’s Leadership Summit
Women are losing power in the cannabis industry. In 2017 women held 36% of C Suite positions in cannabis. Today, less than 8% of CEOs are women and only 38% of all positions in cannabis are held by women. Women are losing their power in cannabis…fast.
We know that statistically women have a higher rate of return on investment, lower turnover and a faster rate to profitability than their male counterparts – so why are we losing ground at such an alarming rate? This is one of many questions we will explore at the Leadership Summit: Power & Collaboration.
